- Thaw overnight in the fridge, or defrost in a bowl of warm water for 15–20 mins.
- Heat gently in a saucepan until steaming. Do not boil.
- Drink as is — season lightly with salt if preferred — or use as a base for soups, grains, or noodles.
- Store frozen for up to 4 months, or refrigerated and consumed within 3 days once thawed.
Bone broth is a whole food and generally well tolerated. A few things worth knowing if you have an existing condition.
Kidney disease (CKD) — Bone broth contains potassium, sodium and protein, all of which people with CKD may need to monitor. Please speak with your nephrologist before making this a regular part of your diet.
Gout — The evidence here is mixed. Bone broth does contain some purines, but levels are relatively low. Some research suggests the glycine in broth may support uric acid excretion. Check with your doctor.
Histamine intolerance — Our broth is made using a high-heat, short-duration process which significantly reduces histamine compared to traditionally simmered broths. If you have severe histamine intolerance, start with a small amount and monitor how you feel.
High blood pressure or sodium-restricted diet — Our broth contains Celtic salt. Factor this into your daily sodium intake if you are managing hypertension.
